Shibari Rope Beginnners Kit Black and Blue Jute

Jute Rope is inherently scratchy. Even our fully conditioned option has a break in period. After your ropes are broken in they will be soft and smooth. But this does take use and further conditioning to achieve.

This jute bondage rope beginners kit comes with (4) 30 foot long, 6mm jute ropes. Perfect for Shibari and all types of rope bondage.

Our jute rope is hand spun, using Grade A Tossa Jute with a medium lay. Medium lay is a good balance between pliability and longevity. Each rope is made to order with care and attention to detail in our rope shop in Massachusetts. We pride ourselves on creating Damn Good Bondage Rope for the BDSM and Kink community.

The following are the color combinations we offer:

(2) Cores Black & (1) Core Blue
(2) Cores Blue & (1) Core Black
(1) Core Black (1) Core Blue (1) Core Mixed
(3) Mixed Cores

Our Jute rope is available in 3 finishes:

1) Raw = Right off the rope walk. We burn the initial fuzzies off. It is stiff and scratchy and will need some work before use. (This option is best for those who are interested in finishing the ropes their own way.)
2) Broken & Singed = A step above raw. Slightly scratchy, and ready to use immediately if you wish.
3) Conditioned = Our highest level of finishing. These Ropes will still have a bit of scratchiness but will soften quickly with use. Ready to use directly out of the box, we do all the hard work for you. These ropes have been broken and singed, massaged with a light coating of wax and oil, then baked in an oven.

End Finish Types: All rope comes standard with overhand knots. You may choose to upgrade to whipped ends for the broken and singed, and conditioned finishes. We use a traditional waxed whipping twine to whip the ropes. We painstakingly sew the whipping twine through the rope to ensure they do not come apart.

Pre-Dye: We dye the yarn before being spun into rope. This means the rope is dyed completely through to the center.

Please note: Differences in color shades may occur due to camera, computer monitor, or any device viewing. When you place an order that entire order will be dyed in the same batch. I cannot guarantee follow up batches being identical shades. Differences in rope diameter vary by about +/- .5mm.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Do you ship discreetly?

YES! All of our packaging is discreet. We ship using plain padded envelopes, USPS padded envelopes and USPS boxes.

I am a beginner, where do I start?

Rope is an investment and not for everyone. Rope can be expensive and if you are just starting out and don't know if rope is your thing, we suggest purchasing nylon to start. Nylon is very inexpensive and very easy to care for. It will give you an opportunity to get started right away and decide whether or not you love rope, all without breaking the bank.

If later you decide that rope is something you like, then you can invest in something a little more traditional like jute or hemp.

    Washing Natural Fiber Rope

We DO NOT not recommend washing your natural fiber ropes, but if you must, hand wash in the sink with cool water and gentle detergent. Hang under tension to dry. Do not put it in the dryer. You can use a fan to help speed up the drying time.

    Worn Bite

If you ever notice your bite is worn down, you can cut 6 – 8 inches off the rope to create a new bite in a different spot on the rope. You can also cut the rope in half to create 2 new ropes.

    High Stranding

Stretch the rope to get rid of the high strand. If this doesn’t work you can open the lay, try to re-twist the cores independently to smooth out the rope. If this doesn’t work, you can always cut the rope and get rid of the high strand.

    Can you do custom lengths?

    Yes and No!

We can do custom lengths in Nylon. Please message us for a quote!

We make all of our natural fiber ropes in our rope shop and are unfortunately limited to 30 footers at this time.

We would be glad to cut shorter lengths of natural fiber rope with over hand knots for free! Just make a note of that at check out. Please note: lengths must add up to 30 footers. Example: (3) 10 footers, (2) 15 footers, (1) 10 footer & (1) 20 footer etc.

If you would like whipped ends on shorter pieces of rope, there is an additional charge, so please message us for a quote before placing an order.

    Caring for Synthetic Rope

    Storage:
You can leave synthetic rope in a bag. You don’t need to do anything special to the rope after you use it.
    Washing:
If you get your synthetic rope dirty, you can wash it! Hand wash or gentle cycle in the washer machine. Use a gentle detergent. Hang the rope to dry. If you put the rope in the dryer it will most likely shrink.
    Rope ends:
If the rope ends come unraveled, you can easily fix it by melting the ends with a torch or making a knot.

    Storing Natural Fiber Rope

Store in a breathable bag loosely coiled. You can also hang them up for storage. Do not coil your rope tightly for storage. If you must store in a bag, make sure it is NOT airtight.

    Conditioning Raw Jute/Hemp

First, start out by breaking in the raw ropes by running them over a carabiner several times. Next, you will want to burn the fuzzies off with a torch or a flame that is high heat. Pop the ropes into a dryer for a few minutes to get the soot off or use a clean clothe to remove any excess soot. Next, apply your favorite rope wax or oil. Use sparingly as a little goes a long way. Your rope is ready to use! If you prefer to melt the wax or oil into the rope follow the next steps. Preheat oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a clean cookie sheet with parchment paper or tin foil and place lose coils of rope onto sheet. Bake for 8 - 10 minutes. Watch carefully so you don't burn them!

What's the difference between Legacy Nylon and Premium Nylon?

Our legacy nylon has a solid core, so it's a bit more bulky when tying intricate knots. Shiny, a little stiff to start, will get softer with use. 1100lbs breaking strength.

Our premium nylon does not have a solid core, so intricate knot designs are more compact. Very shiny and soft. 1200lbs breaking strength.
